You’re at home and can often find yourself in a bit of a slump on the couch. Maybe you have indulged in too much chocolate and wine, and that’s ok! At the end of the day we know we need to get up and start moving. That’s not to say you can’t enjoy your couch time, but we all need to stay busy at home and practice healthy habits daily to improve our physical and mental health!

Do you always start your day with caffeine? Try switching things up with a glass of water. You’ll feel hydrated & your body will thank you. Caffeine can make you dehydrated and sometimes headaches will occur if you’re not drinking enough h20. Quick tip! Add a straw to your water bottle or glass. You might end up tricking yourself into sipping more water throughout the day!

 

Give yourself time away from your phone while you’re in bed. Pratice this morning and night. Many people suggest putting your phone in a different room to fight the temptation. If you use your phone as an alarm clock, invest in a separate clock that plugs into the wall & is also battery powered. When you give yourself time away from your phone & social media, you’re more relaxed and in a better mindset going to bed. The second you check an email or see something you don’t like on social media; it immediately change your mood. The only way to fix this problem, don’t look at your phone in bed.

 

The saying “A cluttered desk, is a cluttered mind” has so much truth! Whether you love or hate it, cleaning is therapeutic. Cleaning can feel overwhelming if you don’t know where to start. To begin pick something small. Before you know it, your place is sparkly clean!

 

What inspires you to laugh and work hard every day? We can often find ourselves watching content that enables an emotional reaction. If you find yourself getting sucked into those feelings, pickup the remote and switch it up!

 

Stretch your body and release tension. Not only is yoga good for the body, it is great for your mind. If you’re working from home or have been sitting on the couch for a few days, your body becomes stiff. If you are new to yoga and have no idea where to begin, there are tons of free resources online that will walk you through beginner yoga poses. Go one step further, look up a local yoga studio. Perhaps they are offering an online class & you can support their business! Namaste.

 

Even though we aren’t going anywhere right now, doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a little TLC in your life.  Pamper yourself because you deserve to feel good.

 

We often forget to take a moment and simply breath. In through your nose and out through the mouth. Practice this daily. It is a good technique if you are experiencing anxiety. Breathing will help you feel grounded and slows down the feeling of panic.

 

Big or small we can all accomplish something new! If you have more time on your hands, look at this as an opportunity to pursue something you are truly passionate about.

 

That’s easy! Listen to 98.1 CHFI! Music can be uplifting and help improve your mood. Turn up the volume and DANCE! Move your body and get lost in the moment.

 

Make it a routine to go outside it least once or twice a day. If you can’t focus and need a break, go for a walk & clear your head. Not only is a daily walk a great way to exercise, it can help strengthen your heart, give you a boost of energy, and it will improve your mood. Plus, if you have a dog in your life, your furry friend will thank you for the walk!
