A heads up if you usually take the subway on the weekends —- there will be no service on Line 1 between Lawrence and St. Clair stations on both Saturday and Sunday. Shuttle buses will be running in that stretch. The TTC says the partial closure is for continued work on the Eglinton crosstown LRT and they will also do their own track work in the area.

Toronto Caribbean Carnival – Junior Carnival and Family Day Event. A series of road closures will take place on Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to accommodate the parade and other activities of the Toronto Caribbean Carnival. The parade will begin at the rear of 30 Sewells Rd., then it will travel west on McLevin Avenue to Neilson Road and then it will travel north on Neilson Road to Neilson Park Drive.
Big on Bloor – Organizers say the city-building festival features hundreds of culturally significant events, activities, displays and exhibitions. Bloor Street from Dufferin Street to Lansdowne Avenue will be closed in both directions from Saturday, July 21 at 8 a.m. to Sunday, July 22 at 7 a.m. for the Big on Bloor Festival. To accommodate this event, a series of smaller road closures will be in place in this area.
Toronto Triathlon Festival – Athletes from all over will be swimming, cycling and biking to the finish line at Ontario Place. With this, partial road closures on the Gardiner Expressway, Don Valley Parkway and Lake Shore Boulevard:
  • The eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway from the Humber River to Carlaw Avenue will be closed on Sunday, July 22 from 2 a.m. to noon. All westbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway will remain open.
  • The northbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway from the Gardiner Expressway to Eglinton Avenue will be closed on Sunday, July 22 from 2 a.m. to noon. All southbound lanes of the Don Valley Parkway will remain open.
  • One eastbound lane of Lake Shore Boulevard from Windermere Avenue to New Brunswick Way/Remembrance Drive will be closed on Sunday, July 22 from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Youth Day – Yonge Street from Dundas Street to Queen Street will be closed on Sunday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
