Meghan & Harry’s Black Lab’s name has finally been revealed and it has such a sentimental meaning for the couple.  Their pup’s name is inspired by the couple’s first trip to Africa.  The name of the pooch had been a mystery until the release of the new best-selling book Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family.  The authors of the book are veteran royal journalists, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, who wrote the high energy pooch’s name is Pula.

The pup’s name has a special meaning that is near and dear to the couple’s heart.  Pula is the name of the currency in Botswana, a country in Africa, where Harry took Meghan when they first started dating.  In Setswana, Pula means rain, which is considered a blessing in Botswana where it barely rains.

Harry surprised Meghan with a trip to Africa for her 36th birthday.  It was one of the first times the couple got to spend time together out of the spotlight. Within three months they were saying, “I Love You”.

In 2017, the couple returned to Botswana to help Dr. Mike Chase of Elephants Without Boarders, with conservation efforts.
