Cozy sweaters, crisp air and colourful leaves…fall is here and there’s no better way to celebrate the colours of the season than with a family visit to the pumpkin patch!

Check out our tips below to make this year’s visit to the patch the best one yet.

Before You Go:

  • Pack a backpack with the essentials listed below so you’re prepped for a day filled with fun no matter how rainy, muddy or sticky it gets!
  • Visit the pumpkin patch’s website to find out what activities are available so you can prioritize your visit based on what your family wants to do. You’ll also want to check to see if they accept credit/debit, find out where to park and what the admission fees are.
  • Throw a cardboard box or plastic tote in the trunk of your car and line it with towels to stop pumpkins from rolling around your car and bumping into each other.
  • Full tummies = happy kiddies so make sure everyone is well fed before you leave.
  • Dress everyone in proper footwear. We recommend rain boots or closed toe shoes.

While You’re There:

  • Scout out where the bathrooms are, and plan to visit them before leaving the area in case there aren’t any available in other parts of the farm.
  • If you’re planning on taking a posed family photo, take it at the beginning of your visit before hands are sticky and pants are muddy. Once the photos are done, the kids can slide into their rain gear to stay dry and comfortable while they jump through puddles and climb hay bale obstacle courses!
  • Pick your pumpkins towards the end of your visit, or make a trip back to your car to drop them off so you aren’t lugging them around all day.
