Shawn Mendes helped one of his fans replace terrifying memories with better ones!

A survivor from the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017, Amelia Thompson, tried to push through the trauma by purchasing tickets to see Shawn Mendes.  Our Toronto native was set to hit the stage at Manchester Arena, so this would mean brave Amelia would have to return to the place that brought her so much pain when she was only 11 years old.  After the bombing, Amelia didn’t speak for days because she had badly injured her vocal chords from her screaming.

Unfortunately, her mother was not prepared to return to the arena, but a first responder came to the rescue!  Meet Aaron Palmer, a police officer who was working outside the arena on the day of the bombing.  He met Amelia through charity work for the victims, and they became friends.

Aaron offered to go with Amelia to the show and when she arrived at the venue, she learned she was actually going to meet Shawn Mendes!  Amelia had to walk through the same doors she once was carried out of on the night of the bombing.    It’s so great that Shawn Mendes could help her create new and happier memories!
