Toronto’s 2013 Budget Includes An Increase For Firefighters!

Toronto’s city council has passed the 2013 budget by a vote of 37-8.  It includes a $3.1-million increase to the firefighters’ budget.  A two per cent property tax increase had already been approved.

While it can be tough to beat the crowds, if you are going to venture out here is all you need to know about what is open and closed during the holiday season.

New Year’s Day – Tuesday, January 1, 2013

Canada Post will not be delivering mail
Government offices will be closed
TTC will run on Sunday service schedule
GO Transit will run on a Sunday schedule
Most LCBO/Beer stores will be closed
Toronto Public Libraries will be closed
Vaughan Mills will be open at 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Eaton Centre will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sherway Gardens will be closed
Yorkdale Mall will be closed
Most grocery stores will be closed
Most gas stations will be open
City’s outdoor rinks will be open
