The Toronto Wheelchair Relay Challenge is a fun, family-friendly event that successfully levels the playing field for people who use wheelchairs, and raises much-needed funds for people with spinal cord injuries. Participants – with and without disabilities – team up to relay race around a track. In this race, disability is an advantage as those who regularly use a wheelchair usually can out push someone who is using a chair for the first time. However, for those without disabilities, the relay emphasizes the skills needed for wheelchair use and, more importantly, that we all have various levels of skills and challenges.
