Iconic Canadian children’s author Robert Munsch revealed in an interview this week that he has been diagnosed with dementia. The 76-year old said he can no longer drive or write.

Munsch has written more than 60 children’s books, in over 30 languages, including eight Indigenous languages. His books have sold over 30 million copies worldwide.

Despite his diagnosis, Munsch said that the he hasn’t forgotten his written words, saying, “My stories, strangely enough, are all there. The stories will be the last thing to go, I think.”
