
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people not to eat a certain type of bagged popcorn because it may contain Listeria bacteria.Made in the United States by Popcorn Indiana, the aged white cheddar popcorn comes in 225-gram packages, with the UPC 8 43571 00078 5. The best before dates on the affected products are 18/FEB/2013 and 25/FEB/2013.
The popcorn, now recalled by importer UNFI Canada Inc., was sold in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. It might have also been distributed in other provinces.
No one has reported becoming sick after eating the snack.
Listeria can cause an illness with high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weak immune systems are especially at risk.
