It’s a damn fuckin shame that something like this has to happen in my hometown where I grew up and where I also was a “victim of crime “(twice) when my home was broken into and valuables stolen (this was back in the 90′s). It makes me PISSED OFF AND ANGRY fhat for YEARS now, GANGS have been roaming around Scarborough in posses causing trouble to innocent citizens and those who just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
What happened to the Scarborough I knew growing up in the 70′s? GANGS, that’s what and when I moved from Scarborough to Mississauga back in 92, I knew even back then that “gangs” were infiltrating the Scarborough area (especially in the Malvern area). Some of them probably came from the Jane and Finch area to settle their and gain turf.
The problem is not the gangs so much themselves as it is with “young kids being totally fuckin BOARD with nothing to do, so they join a gang and make a bad choice”; might as well. Sure there are youth centre’s for them to go, but is that enough? Is the government trying to create jobs or job training programs for these young people who for some may NOT REALLY want to be doing what they’re doing (coming from broken homes doesn’t help either, does it?).
Another point I want to make is people, “be careful who you know” because it could cost you your life. Joshua sasid that he didn’t want to be at that party; he didn’t feel comfortable. YOu don’t feel comfortable some place, you leave. He wanted to , but it was to late! It was a party meant for the kids, but it didn’t turn out that way.
HOw long is going to goddamn take for city and government officials to provide these youth a more viable alternative to their choices they make. It’s been 20 years since these “losers” (what else would you call them for the choices they make and just because their BOARD doesn’t give them the fuckin excuse to join a gang; Hey I had a shittty life to growing up in Scarborough and into adult, but did I ever even contemplate joining a gang or do drugs or shit like that? NO! I just suffered through it all until oppoortunity arrived and then turned all my “scars into stars” and am trying to “make lemonade out of all those goddamn lemons” that life gave me. So to all those gangs in Scarborough, just because your fuckin BOARD or come from a broken doesn’t mean you have the ritght to do what you do. It’s a poor choice and a fuckin stupid one to boot! Use ther resources available and if you really want to do something besides being in a gang, then look into those resources like youth centres and get people to help you and “make a difference” or else you could be a statistic yourself.
Make “positive choices and changes” with the resources you have and if you don’t have them (what you want), get involved and “fight for what you want”. Gangs or only know two things, how to fight, maim and kill over territory and trade/ do drugs. RainbowRay says “be resolved get involved” but he doesn’t say “ruin your fuckin life!”
It’s a damn shame I have to read something like this because despite all I’ve been through in my life, I still LOVE TORONTO and Scarborough and Scarborough doesn’t deserve the reputation it has earned over the years, it really doesn’t. It’s up to the people to get involved!

Can’t worry about this shit all your life, so on a lighter note, here is a tribute to the “Good Old Days” before all the “gangs” arrived. My yearning to a return to the “good ole day in Scarborough” (and all of Toronto).
“Good Old Days” (“Our Gang” Thems Song. Remember Spanky
Alphalpa, Darla, Butch and the gang from
Childhood? I do!)
Written by RainbowRay
(Yearning for “the good old days” and “better days”)
Verse 1 Hey do I remember
A time so long ago
When I didn’t have to
Worry about living in
Scarborough
Back in the carefree seventies
When I was a just a child
Times like these I never saw
That have gone so wild
Verse 2 Riding my bicycle safely
Sometimes until the night
Walking down my street
To buy a “Lola”
I knew everything was alright
Going to the Scarborough Town Centre
And playing those pinball/video games
And now the mall is sometimes swarmed
I think that’s a real damn shame
Verse 3 Going to the movies at the Golden Mile and Elane
Watching “Jacob Tutu” at the Cedarbrae again
Saturday movies at Albert Campbell
Now there was an “innocent time”
Hoping that days like that can return again
So we can all feel “fine”
(Remember watching George Romero’s
“Night of the Living Dead” (1968) at the
Albert Campbell Library about five minutes walk
from where I grew up as a kid.
I believe that is the same library where me and my
Class watched game 8 of the Canada/Russia
Series, where Paul Henderson scored the winning
Goal! Ahhh! Those were the days! (right Edith? HA!)
Hoping for better days in Scarborough and in Toronto!
