Ontario Provincial Police are alerting motorists about a scam being run along the Highway 401 through the Greater Toronto Area. The OPP told 680News they have had five incidents so far this year, in which a driver pulled over on the side of the driveway and waved down a motorist for help.
The person claims to have car troubles and asks to borrow money, sometimes offering jewellery in exchange for cash. Police said the jewellery is fake.
Some Good Samaritans have lost as much as $2,000.
The OPP is reminding motorists that while it’s good to help fellow drivers, you should never hand over cash to anyone you don’t know.

I would actually call that an OPP “SCUM Alert” and if they call it a “Scam” Alert, could we then call it a “Scam Scum” Alert? I think so! Anybody who would take advantage of a fellow driver like that is not only doing a “scam”, but is “scum”; hence “Scam Scum!” HA!
As the saying goes, ” Vi Caveat emptor!”(??) which means “let the buyer beware!”
