Some good news from double lung-transplant recipient Helene Campbell’s family.
On her website www.alungstory.ca !Her mom, Manon, writes:
Many thanks for your continued words of encouragement and prayers. As commented by Justin Bieber last January, Hélène has amazing strength, which we witness daily. She is no longer in an induced coma but goes back and forth between somnolence and alertness. She is still receiving assistance from the ventilator but her breathing is slowly improving each day. Communication remains a challenge because of her breathing tube.
She’s developing some good sign language skills. We on the other hand, need to improve our interpretation skills. Early mobility is very important to prevent possible complications from such a major surgery. Hélène was assisted into a chair for the first time yesterday. Despite all the equipment around her mouth, she managed to give me a big smile and two thumbs up when I walked into her room.
So great to hear! Keep Helene and her family in your thoughts and prayers! We’ll keep you updated on her progress, and be sure to send along your words of encouragement for Helene, here! Post below!

Keep very strong Helene we are praying for you to get through this. Your parents have been a pillar of strength I could just imagine what they are going through but, once they see the smile on your face it makes everything ok. Keep smiling for us and we will keep praying for you to get stronger and stronger as time goes on.
