The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a warning about certain no name brand beef burgers and beef steakettes because of the risk of E. coli. It’s an expanded recall after a public warning in February.
The burgers are in a 1.36-kilogram package bearing the UPC code 0-60383-37333-7. The steakettes are in a 2.27-kilo Club Pack with a UPC code 0-60383-01321-9.
The products were sold at Loblaws stores across Canada.
The manufacturer, New Food Classics of Burlington, Ont., has voluntarily recalled the affected products.
The CFIA said food contaminated with E. coli may not look or smell spoiled, but eating it may cause serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses.
There has been one reported illness connected to the recall.
