Having trouble mailing a letter lately? If so, it might have something to do with the number of Canada Post mailboxes around!
The postal service says it removed more than 1,000 letter-boxes across the country over the last few years as household mail has dropped off more than 17 per cent.
The trend of removing boxes is expected to continue, as more people go online to pay their bills.
The C.D. Howe Institute says Canada Post is not doing enough if it wants to survive once letter mail becomes obsolete. It says the crown corporation should be privatized.
Do you think they should do more to save ‘snail mail’? Or is it just the way it should be, with everything going online?

There are still many people using the mail, think of all the seniors that love sending out birthday cards,Christmas cards and letters. Not everyone has a computer!

Can you go online to find a list of mailbox in every town or city, if not maybe this should be available for people.

I don’t do much mailing, but it is very convenient having a post box down the street from my house when I do need to mail something. I’m sure however, this explains the long line ups every weekend at any Canada Post in any Shopper’s Drug Mart, they are absolutely ridiculous! Wouldn’t it be cool if we all just had postage meters like big company organizations?? You just prepay the postage, put your mail on the scale, and send it through the meter to stamp it. AWESOME!
