Tolls go up on Hwy. 407 across the top of Toronto…!
It will cost more to drive on Highway 407 across the top of Toronto starting Wednesday.
The cost of a trip on the express toll road will depend on the time of day, type of vehicle, distance and part of the highway travelled.
Transponder lease fees are going up as well, to $3 from $2.75.

The video toll charge, for cars without a transponder, will rise by five cents to $3.65 per trip.
The cost to driver per kilometre is going up 2.25 cents to 25.20 cents.
Do you use the 407 a lot? is it worth the fee, especially now that there’s an increase?

Thought we already paid for the highway.. when it was being built.
Its a great help to get across the city when the 401 is backed up, but I dont find the need for the hike, considering they are not introducing something new.
Also, I dont think its fair that they can stop you from renewing your lic. plate sticker b/c you failed to pay.
Does that mean I can withhold something from people who dont pay me on time…

Never used the highway, so I can’t say whether it’s bad for the public or not; I guess it depends on how often you use it. As to whether or not it’s another tax grab for the government, I guess you’ll just have to “calculate your monthly commute” using the highway and figure out how much your paying each time over that time period. If it’s to much, then I guess find an alternative route. The government was bound to increase the toll anyway. That’s business for you!
