It’s about time! lol A new single from Shania is on the way before the middle of the month!
The Timmins, Ont., country superstar has announced she will release a new single, “Today is Your Day,” on June 12.
The song will first debut on Twain’s reality TV show, “Why Not? With Shania Twain,” and will then be available for purchase on iTunes at 11 p.m. ET.
It’s the first song Twain has written solo in six years.
The song’s release coincides with the U.S. finale of Twain’s show, which features footage of her marriage to Swiss businessman Frederic Thiebaud.
The episode won’t air in Canada until June 17 on the Oprah Winfrey Network, but a spokesperson for iTunes confirmed that Canadians would have access to the new song at the same time as customers in the U.S.
Are you excited? I can’t wait! It feels like its been FOREVER since we had some NEW Shania!! Yay!

With all the focus that has been on Shania and her show on OWN, with Shania telling her story of marriage break up, the betrayal and her struggle to come back to where she used to be with her career and voice, if you have been paying any attention one might wonder what her new release will be like. I think that no matter what people will want to see what she has to give. It will be tough once all the attention shifts to “what’s next”? Radio stations have had a whole album of hit after hit to play on the radio up to right now but it will soon be looked at as ‘older’ Shania music and fans will continue to look forward to what’s next? Wanting aother mega hit album to come out depending on what this new single is like. I hope it’s all wonderful and look foward to lots of great music form Shania moving forward.
There is one thing I would like to here Shania talk about and that is when she moved to Euope with Mutt and her castle etc. She was happy then, no cheating had taken place and she just wanted a break from all her fans, etc. etc. I think an artist has a responsibility to those that have loved them and bought her CD’s and MADE HER RICH. For any artist to turn away and want privacy is a snub to those that loved them and have believed in her. Would Shania have made this come back if everything in her life had stayed wonderful? Or is it a need of a place to belong and more inportantly, make more money to replace all that has been lost in her marriage break up? In all the years she was “gone” and cut herself off of the very people that paid their money to buy her music even when it may have been all they had? I know of a young girl, who spent her months allowance to buy Shania’s last CD and wrote letter after letter to Shania asking for signed picture of her. This girl never got that picture, but Celine Dion sent her a signed picture and she was busy playing every night in Los Vagus. This is were you see the difference in two great artist. It feels like one believes she has paid her dues to her fans and another who stays in touch and is always thanking her fans and giving them praise for their support in her success. I just find it a little hard to really respect an artist that turned their back on the vary fan’s that bought her music and gave her the means to go into seclusion. I have said too much, I love Shania, I just hope she doesn’t disappear after a few years of coming back and her fans giving her huge success once again. I will sum it up saying this: Be it a music or movie star that their fan base has helped them “make it” big, I don’t believe having the CD of a favorite music star or DVD movie of a favorite movie star they love to listen too or watch is enough. A star has a responsibility to at the very least stay in touch, some how, with the fan’s that helped put them were they are.
