Does this surprise you? Is it a good idea, or in bad taste?
It sounded like an action blockbuster. An elite team of Navy Seals infiltrated a Pakistani compound and, following a lengthy firefight, eliminated the highest-profile criminal on planet Earth.
Soon enough, what only sounds like a movie will actually look like a movie. Or several movies.
Multiple script options detailing the assassination of Osama Bib Laden “have been attempted or discussed, including one by Oliver Stone as a follow-up to his film ‘World Trade Center’ and a re-adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan character,” according to Deadline (via the NY Post).
This in addition to the fact that two projects in various stages of pre-production about the hunt for Bin Laden are now being rewritten to “to reflect the breaking news,” according to FOXNews.com.
Given the success of such video game franchises as the “Call of Duty” series, and a Best Picture win for Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker,” you know that Hollywood will have to comment – via a silver-screen feature – on the death of one of history’s most vile terrorists, and the military actions that brought him to justice.
Would you support a movie about Bin Laden’s death?

I am glad that they finally got him. It was a long time coming.

It’s great that they say they killed him. But I wouldn’t get too cocky….. I’m sure he has already put together his successors in case something happens to him. We are not out of the woods yet.
Before they threw his body into the ocean why did they not send a photo or some kind of proof to the people that he is dead. Telling us doesn’t mean that he really is gone.
I am in agreement with Darren Osbourne….. cautious optimist.
Thanks

Definitely bad taste!!!!! I have never understood the media’s need to glorify someone who clearly had an askewed agenda which did not benefit anyone!! I am sure his followers would love for us to glorify and martyr him for all to see. It would serve their higher purpose, would it not!

I believe he’s really gone and as for a movie; I wouldn’t be surprised if they did make one. The question is though, how many of you woukld “pay to see it”?
