Bixi launches its service on Tuesday, May 3!
The bicycle sharing group Bixi Toronto has released a map of its first group of 80 city locations.
Almost all of the bike stations are in the area bounded by Spadina Ave., Bloor St., Jarvis St. and the waterfront. There is one west of Spadina in Kensington Market, one on College St. west of Augusta Ave., and one on Dockside Drive and Queens Quay, as well as two at Queen’s Park.
The map is also available in a mobile version. Colour coding explains which are in service, blocked and installed for special events.
Bixi’s service will begin with 1,000 basic black bikes, rentable through subscriptions or timed passes, which can be picked up and dropped off at any of the docking stations. Trips under 30 minutes are free.
About 1,000 subscriptions had been sold by April 23, the company said.
Bixi already operates in Montreal, Washington, Minneapolis, Arlington, London, England and Melbourne, Australia.
